What shall we do during the LENTEN SEASON?
ANSWER: Mt 6: 1-6. 16-18
(Feb 22, Ash
Wednesday)
3 traditional practices during Lent
1. PRAYER – Mt. 6: 5-6
2. FASTING – Mt. 6: 16-18
3. ALMSGIVING – Mt. 6: 2-4
3 traditional practices during Lent
1. PRAYER – relationship w/ GOD
2. FASTING – relationship w/ one SELF
3. ALMSGIVING – relationship w/ OTHERS
The 3 traditional practices are interrelated & interconnected to each
other
1. PRAYER – “yes” to GOD
2. FASTING – “no” to one SELF
3. ALMSGIVING – share the blessings to OTHERS
The PRIMARY OBJECTIVE is not a mere LEGALISM but to bring us closer to
GOD, one SELF & OTHERs.
FOOD FESTIVAL is an opportunity to BRING US closer to GOD, one-SELF &
OTHERS. = REAL HAPPINESS
It should not STOP w/n this INSTITUTION but extended into our day to day
life.
In the Gospel Reading today (Lk 11: 14-23)
The foundation of our ACTIONS is JESUS CHRIST. Even in the midst of frailties,
criticisms, difficulties & the like, we do it AMDG (Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam)
